Well technically, Iraq has an Arabic origin. Therefore, the word is actually
properly represented by Arabic characters. The version using the Latin derived
alphabet is only a phonetic attempt of the word. Due to the fact that, in it's
common pronunciation, Iraq and Irak are phonetically the same, I feel that Irak
is an acceptable spelling of the word.
