Unless they are saying the process of tanning leather is going to end the world, why bother? No shortage of cattle hides in the world.

We are still killing them for beef, skins are in surplus but if a new player enters the market then that's just more skins in landfill.
But it gives the consumer choice which is always good!

Cattle production is down in the U.S. which has driven up prices in supermarkets and restaurants. Trump's solution: import 300k tons of beef from South America, waive tariffs on it, and sell it at cost to lower prices despite constantly saying "America first" and claiming tariffs don't raise consumer prices, so, fuck U.S. ranchers while actually believing consumer prices will be lowered.
