Kind of ironic that the Apollo 1 astronauts pictured here practicing an escape from their capsule in water died by burning in another test of that craft because they were unable to escape quickly enough on Jan. 27, 1967. In space suits and on yellow rafts are, left to right, Gus Grissom, Roger Chaffee, and Ed White.
