Different countries, different cultures, different behaviours:

In the late 1980's a woman rang Ultimo TAFE (College of Technical And Further Education) in Sydney to ask if there was a course her son could do.
"What's he interested in?"
"Nothing. He current friends stole a car and police chased them. They abandoned it and ran. He then hung around. Police asked him if he had anything to do with it."
"No."
"Well get going then."
"Can I get my bag out of the car?"
The TAFE staff refused. They had their and the TAFE's reputations to keep.

He would fit right into the education institution that accepted the idiot who did the work above.
