I've never heard of hamburger helper but that sounds awful.

Though I did have a burger which had a Mac and cheese croquette in it once, which wasn't bad. So maybe not?

Americans are weird. Is it like just mac and cheese you mix with beef? Or is it pre mixed?

yep, provide your own ground beef and add the seasoning. it's pretty good.
