I just checked the price of oil. It's less than half what it was during the Gulf War - OPEC + has seen to that.

There's also the fact a war with China will stop the trade of oil over the oceans. So it's attempting to secure supply.

But here's some history:
- when promises of financial gain led Hawaiians to overthrow their princess and join yankeeland, it was
followed by today's reality: there are now no wealthy, well educated Hawaiians - so they can't take the territory away again.
- after World War II politically connected Germans were killed.
- after the Second Gulf War politically connected Iraqis were killed.

What do you think the politically connected Venezuelans are going to do?

Then there's the oil supply bit. Something odd is happening: there's a vast amount of shale oil, described as a "Game changer" found by yank government geologists. It's untapped.
