AusPost parcel delivery business works like this;
Dutch auction is held for 60 month contracts based on regions, each only a few
suburbs.
Lowest bidder gets the contract.
Contractor hires sole-traders to perform the actual pick-ups and deliveries
usually offering $1.35 per parcel.
Sole-traders must also do the tri-key pick-ups and deliveries (green boxes with
letter mail that posties use to prevent them having to go to depots).
Sole trader will pick-up 200 to 300 parcels per day. For "1 man & his
van" $300 per day sounds good.
End result = no 1 person can deliver 300 parcels a day so taking an hour to
pre-fill cards for half your deliveries will save you a few hours. This is the
way.
