Perhaps a living wage, what a concept.

Minimum wage here is $24.95/hr which is $16.57 USD
I saw a bunch of shit years ago that said if McDonalds had to pay more for staff
then Big Macs would cost $10 each.
Well, they do and wages haven't gone up; yet McDonalds has near record
profits.
Here, we've got some usual suspects fast food joints, but McDonalds competes
with "real" burger shops; chains, yes, but not fast food (like Grill'd
for example), all cooked to order, decent quality stuff. And they're about equal
on price if you take a drink out of the equation but the burgers are comfortably
bigger (and nicer).
McDonalds here is an absolute fucking rip off, unless you're getting a quick one
from a freeway services there's always a better option.

The U.S. Federal minimum wage is $7.25 as it has been for several years.
Ridiculous. Many states set their own minimum wage and Florida is currently at
$14; it's been increasing it by $1 a year for the last few years and is set to
top out at $15 next year when the increases end and is still not a true living
wage. According to the graph I just looked at the Australian dollar is .66 the
value of a U.S. dollar, but fear not, the value of the U.S. dollar has dropped
and continues to fall thanks to current policies.

Australia's best contribution to the world is The Living Wages Case. Without a
doubt.

Trump is trying to bring back those good old days for you, pulse. Of course,
you have to put up with him treating you like shit but you're way ahead with
living wages and nationalized healthcare - getting sick or injured won't
bankrupt you the way it can we "brave" "free" yanks.

Zillow says your house is worth $63,186 so maybe $14 and hour is plenty for
some parts of the USA.

I searched for Australia's cheapest houses just then, and there's basically
nothing useful in there.
You could buy an old wooden church in a town called Iron Knob. Bonus points for
living in a place called Iron Knob.
Only $100K! Basically on the side of an open cut mine, in the middle of the
desert.

Good luck with the taxes and insurance, it's turning into a place where only
the rich can live comfortably and that ain't me.

Well, you don't have an income to tax, and this map say sales tax 6%, so are
you talking about land tax and utilities etc?

Property tax, utilities tax, etc. Also, each county, with approval of voters,
can add additional sales tax for specific uses; my county has added an extra one
cent onto the state's base of six cents.
